In 1998, FEMA International, B.V. (FEMA) was formed by John Canvin and Hans Litjens for the purpose to market and sell the Dilapan-S a hygroscopic cervical dilator. The company has positioned itself as a leader in the sales and distribution of this device with resellers around the world. In 2002, J.C.E.C. Company, Inc. a sister company of FEMA obtained approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration to market and sell the Dilapan-S.
